Chartered on April 30, 1925, The Overland Lions Club is one of the oldest
and most successful service organizations in the area.  In good times and
bad, The Overland Lions Club has offered assistance to those in need in our
local community as well as around the world.  The Overland Lions have also
worked hard through the years on many projects involving municipal parks,
our local schools, and many other civic improvements.

Being part of
Lions Clubs International, The Overland Lions Club is one of
over forty-five thousand clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization
with nearly 1.3 million members, which are recognized worldwide for their
service to the blind and visually impaired.  This service began when Helen
Keller challenged Lions to become "Knights Of The Blind In The Crusade
Against Darkness" during the Lions Clubs International Convention
the year that The Overland Lions Club was chartered.

Established originally as strictly a local businessman's association, The
Overland Lions Club has evolved into an organization for anyone that wants
to serve our community.  Proud of its affiliation with Lions Clubs
International and thoroughly dedicated to projects related to sight, The
Overland Lions Club is also deeply committed and very pleased to
support
many other causes that affect our community.

Fund-raising has been accomplished in many different ways, but the most
successful and popular has been The
Overland Lions Community Fair.  Since
first being held in 1939, the Community Fair continues to feature carnival
rides, games, plenty of food and refreshments, and, most of all, family fun.
And the Fair is more than just the Club's largest fund-raiser each year.  With
the free entertainment and many other special attractions,
it has become a community celebration.

In recent years The Overland Lions Club has participated as a vendor in
other fairs in the area, manned a concession stand at professional sporting
events, and hosted pancake-sausage breakfasts as a means of raising funds.
Overland Lions have also donated their time and energy to causes of other
organizations and other area Lions Clubs.
